CFWT Grant Story: Lubbock Community Theatre

Throughout 2020, Lubbock Community Theatre continued its arts programming with help from the South Plains COVID-19 Response Fund. The Theatre moved all its performances and events online for community safety.

LCT’s Youth Artist Guild students continued with film and STEAM-based programming during the height of COVID-19. The organization says the group “performed a fully streamed production of 15 Reasons NOT to be in a play, participated in our Christmas Show, and wrote/performed original works.” The Theatre reported that they were worried about reaching their disabled students, but they “found that this was an added way to reach them at their own comfort level.”

The Theatre states, “After three successful productions, LCT Live-ISH is here to stay.” The organization worked with other businesses to help sell online tickets. An LCT member says that this not only allowed the community to support the organization “but also our local restaurants during a time when they needed it the most.”
